asahi as it goes
I just wasted an hour bungling the Dave & Dave assignment, Self-Portrait with Camera. I had good intentions. I was going to wax nostalgic about my first SLR camera, the one I got for $50 when I was about fourteen, for a photography class in high school.
It's the best camera ever, with a needle-style light meter. Everything I shot with it came out great. There were no bells and whistles. It didn't do anything for me, like my second camera, the awful Canon AE-1 Program. God I hated that piece of shit. But at the time, no one was making screw-mount lenses, so I was stuck with just my 50, and I wanted to zoom, baby.
I didn't read the assignment carefully, so it wasn't until I finished that I saw I was supposed to be taking a picture of myself taking a picture, my camera visible.
Semantically, this fits the bill. In my left hand is a remote. I am taking my picture remotely, but not with the camera in my hand.
I'm sure I'm disqualified, and to that, I say, "Oh, well."
Because Dr. Seuss awaits.
Hunting Camera Around Melbourne
I have JOYs today going around all the famous camera shop to look for Panasonic Lumix LX-3 for my new photography friend, Leo. The best thing I found out that it makes me so enjoyable is that we are all into photography. No matter where we are, we are talking about our own experience of taking shots.
We don't have any lucks today as follow,
1, All Panasonic Lumix LX-3 is SOLD OUT in Melbourne.
2. I forgot to bring my SD memory card out.
The Lumix LX-3 is too famous with it's Leica lens to be found in stock. The "Digital Camera Warehouse" told me that there are 50 orders of this camera, who are still waiting for their LX-3. wow! heaps of them are looking for this famous compact camera.
Though I brought my camera with two lenses and the flash light out, i forgot to bring my memory card. USELESS!! That's why I should wait for Leo to upload those photos for me. Hope I look good in his camera.
As result, that's why I took self-portrait at home after hunting camera all day long.

The art of portraiture approached its apex during the sixteenth century in Europe with the discovery of oil painting when the old masters developed and refined techniques that remain unsurpassed to this day. The ascendance of nonrepresentational art in the middle of the twentieth century displaced these venerable skills, especially in academic art circles. Fortunately for aspiring artists today who wish to learn the methods that allowed the Old Masters to achieve the luminous color and subtle tonalities so characteristic of their work, this knowledge has been preserved in hundreds of small traditional painting ateliers that persevered in the old ways in this country and throughout the world.
Coming out of this dedicated movement, Portrait Painting Atelier is an essential resource for an art community still recovering from a time when solid instruction in art technique was unavailable in our schools. Of particular value here is a demonstration of the Old Masters’ technique of layering paint over a toned-ground surface, a process that builds from the transparent dark areas to the more densely painted lights. This method unifies the entire painting, creating a beautiful glow that illuminates skin tones and softly blends all the color tones. Readers will also find valuable instruction in paint mediums from classic oil-based to alkyd-based, the interactive principles of composition and photograph-based composition, and the anatomy of the human face and the key relationships among its features.
Richly illustrated with the work of preeminent masters such as Millet, Gericault, and van Gogh, as well as some of today’s leading portrait artists—and featuring seven detailed step-by-step portrait demonstrations—Portrait Painting Atelier is the first book in many years to so comprehensively cover the concepts and techniques of traditional portraiture.
